Here is a fine example of a Lower Cambrian trilobite. This is Olenellus chiefensis from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This species of Olenellus has an extremely wide field between the brim and the glabella. This trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. The long pleural spines are quite evident and the large, crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen. The bug has very good color and contrast and is well presented on the plate of shale. This is a nice specimen of this uncommon species of Olenellus.
