Here is an excellent specimen of an extremely rare trilobite. This is Eocryphops cryptapthalmus from the Devonian of Morocco. This type of Phacopid trilobite has a fairly smooth glabella and small compound eyes which are positioned very low, towards the front of the cephalon. The eyes are wonderfully showcased on this specimen - almost all of the individual lenses are very clearly defined. The trilobite is very 3-dimensional and well articulated. The thick-shelled exoskeleton is nicely preserved and exhibits great detail. The trilobite has gorgeous, natural, dark brownish-black coloration and is beautifully perched on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is a very displayable specimen of this highly uncommon trilobite.
