This is a great multiple specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale of New York. There are two examples of this trilobite on the plate. Both trilobites are complete and well articulated. The larger trilobite is almost perfectly prone, while the other trilobite has the cephalon slightly tucked downward. The bugs are very 3-dimensional and have the thick exoskeleton wonderfully preserved. The dark brownish-black trilobites contrast beautifully with the gray matrix and are well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a very detailed double Calymene specimen from the Silurian of New York.
