As everyone knows, complete Mississippian trilobites are quite rare. This is a Mississippian trilobite that was acquired from the Edward Books Collection. It is from the Lake Valley Formation of New Mexico. It has been removed from the matrix so both sides of the trilobite can be seen. The trilobite is complete and enrolled. Even the free cheeks are present, which is quite unusual. The eyes are clearly defined, and the calcitic exoskeleton exhibits fine granulations, especially on the pygidium. This is a fine specimen of this highly uncommon Carboniferous trilobite from an old collection.
