This is a nice specimen of Neometacanthina sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This unusual type of trilobite has very small eyes, extremely long, wide genal spines, and many long pygidial spines. All of these features are clearly defined and well displayed on this specimen. The almost perfectly prone bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. The individual lenses of the eyes are easily seen, and the pointed pygidial lappets are all intact. The trilobite has excellent color and contrast and is well presented on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very pretty example of this uncommon trilobite from the Atlas Mountains.
