This is a textbook Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a near-perfect Olenellus gilberti from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This specimen was recently acquired from the collection of ''Dawg'' DeRosear, the legendary trilobite aficionado. The bug is fully complete including the long telson (tailspine), which is easily seen. The detail of this trilobite is simply awesome - even the tiny pleural spines are fully intact. The bug is nicely inflated and 3-D, and well centered on the large, squared matrix plate. This is simply a Top Quality Lower Cambrian Olenellus trilobite.
