This is a beautiful specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale. The trilobite is very inflated and almost perfectly prone. It is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The thick-shelled bug has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the somewhat rounded plate of shale that also contains some interesting bryozoans. This is an excellent example of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York.
