This is a very pretty US trilobite. It is a large Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - which is somewhat unusual. This specimen has been carefully prepared with an air-abrasive machine to reveal the fine detail. The dark brown bug contrasts beautifully with the tannish-pink matrix. It is well presented on the natural block of shale that also contains many examples of Perenopsis interstrictus, a blind Agnostid trilobite. This is a very striking specimen of Asaphiscus from the Wheeler Formation.
