This is a classic trilobite that is very difficult to find. It is a Dipleura dekayi from the Devonian of New York State. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1986. The trilobite is complete, with the head slightly shifted. The trilobite is quite 3-dimensional and exhibits very good detail. The small eyes are easily seen, and the "shovel-snout" is free-standing. The extremely triangular pygidium is intact and tightly attached. The trilobite is well displayed on the pillar of matrix. This is a robust example of this strange-looking trilobite from New York.
