Here is a very collectible trilobite. This is Calymene fayettensis from the Ordovician of Iowa. This uncommon trilobite is almost always found in an enrolled position. This is one of only two prone specimens that we have ever seen. This bug is nicely inflated and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The thick, cream-colored exoskleton is quite beautiful and exhibits superb detail. The fine granulations on the cephalon are easily seen. The trilobite has great color and contrast and is well centered on the somewhat triangular plate of matrix. This is an extremely displayable specimen of a scarce species of Calymene from Iowa.
