Here is a fine specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. The trilobite is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. The bug exhibits fine detail. The crescent-shaped eyes protrude above the carapace of the trilobite, and even the individual lenses of the eyes can be seen. The long genal spines and the caudal spine are beautifully displayed. The ancient arthropod has great dark-brownish color and contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The fossil is well centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a pretty specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Rochester Shale.
