Here is an interesting trilobite from the Edward Books Collection. This is a good example of Olenellus clarki from the Latham Formation of California. This Lower Cambrian location is one of the most renowned sites in the western US, although complete trilobites from this site are quite rare. This trilobite exhibits fine detail. The individual thoracic segments are easily seen, and the minute pygidium is unusually intact. Even part of the ''tail spine'' is quite evident. The trilobite is well presented on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale that also contains several other trilobite fragments. This is a nice example of Olenellus clarki from this ''classic'' location.
