Here is a very nice US trilobite. This is Greenops barberi from the Devonian of New York. This trilobite is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The inflated bug exhibits fine detail. The eyes are easily seen, and the long, wide genal spines are clearly defined. All of the pointed pygidial lappets are intact and beautifully displayed. The black color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The fossil arthropod is well positioned on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale. This is a very striking example of Greenops barberi from the famous Penn-Dixie Quarry.
