This is a very striking trilobite. It is a highly uncommon Scabriscutellum scabrum from the Devonian of Morocco. This type of Scutellid has granulations covering the entire ''shell'' of the trilobite. This trilobite is extremely prone and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite is quite 3-dimensional and exhibits excellent detail. The small, protruding eyes are intact, and the sharply-pointed pleurons are clearly defined. The finely granulated surface of the exoskeleton is beautifully displayed. The brown color of the bug contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The ancient arthropod is well positioned on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a gorgeous example of this rare trilobite from the Atlas Mountains.
