As everyone knows, complete Mississippian trilobites are quite rare and highly collectible. This is a very fine example of Hesslerides bufo from the famous Mississippian crinoid beds near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This outstretched trilobite is extremely large for the type and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The short genal spines are well preserved and easily seen. The beautiful, chocolate-brown exoskeleton is wholly intact and contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. The bug is well positioned on the natural plate of siltstone that also contains two different crinoids - there is no mistaking where this specimen is from. This is a large, museum-quality example of a rare trilobite from a classic site known almost exclusively for crinoids.
