Here is a very aesthetic specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This inflated trilobite is wonderfully articulated and nicely outstretched. Note the large, stalked eyes - a defining feature of this species. The eyes protrude high above the smooth carapace of the trilobite. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The bug is beautifully positioned on the large plate of limestone that also contains a great specimen of Echinosphaerites sp., a cystoid. This is a fine association plate of a trilobite and an echinoderm from Russia.
