This is a beautiful spiny trilobite. It is a gorgeous Selenopeltis sp. from the Ordovician of Morocco. Usually, this trilobite is preserved as a cast. This is one of the very few examples of this trilobite that we have ever seen that has the actual exoskeleton preserved. This bug exhibits incredible detail - even the eyes are easily seen. The long genal spines and pleural spines are absolutely striking. The chocolate-brown color of the trilobite contrasts extremely well with the light-colored matrix. The bug is exquisitely presented on the large, natural block of sculpted limestone. This is probably the most detailed specimen of Selenopeltis that we have seen.
