This is a gorgeous spiny trilobite. It is a Selenopeltis sp. from the Ordovician of Morocco. This type of Odontopleurid trilobite has extremely long genal and pleural spines and two pairs of shorter spines on the pygidium. All of these spines are beautifully showcased on this specimen. The bug is wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position and exhibits great detail. The dark brown color of the trilobite contrasts well with the lighter-colored matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a stunning example of this very aesthetic trilobite from Morocco.
