Here is a nice specimen of Cryptolithus bellulus from the Ordovician of Pennsylvania. This trilobite is nicely articulated and preserves fine detail. The pitted brim of the cephalon is beautifully displayed. The large, inflated glabella is intact (not sheared off like many specimens of this type) and the wide, triangular pygidium is tightly attached. The long genal spine extends well beyond the body of the trilobite. This trilobite is nicely centered on the large plate of shale. There is also an impression (or counterpart) of another Cryptolithus on the plate. The fossils have excellent orange, limonitic color and contrast well with the grayish-green matrix. This is a very fine specimen of this Trinucleid trilobite from a famous Ordovician site in Pennsylvania.
