This is an unusual specimen of Alokistocare sp. from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite was found by Steve Hess in 1996 and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached, which is not the usual condition for this particular trilobite. Under magnification, the bug displays a number of fine pustules on the cephalon. This multi-segmented arthropod even retains the very tiny pygidium. The trilobite has nice color and contrast (better than what the picture shows). It is well positioned on the somewhat triangular plate of shale. This is a fine example of this rare Alokistocare from the Pierson Cove Formation.
