This is a rare trilobite. It is a large Comura sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This species of Comura has a very wide cephalon, with a short anterior process and slightly flaring genal spines. This specimen is very 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. The large, compound eyes are easily seen - even the individual lenses are quite evident. The thin, pointed pleural spines are clearly defined and the broad, long pygidial spines are beautifully displayed. The black, thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug contrasts very nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The trilobite is extremely well centered on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is an exciting specimen of this highly uncommon trilobite from the Atlas Mountains.
