Name:
Asaphiscus wheeleri & Margaretia dous Age: Cambrian Formation: Wheeler Formation Location: Millard County, Utah Size: Trilobite is 1.75 inches long This specimen is not for sale Click here for similar specimens that are for sale
This is a large specimen of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite has both free cheeks intact and tightly attached which is somewhat unusual. The trilobite has been cleaned with an air-abrasive machine to preserve the fine detail of the specimen. The bug has great color and contrast and is wonderfully centered on the huge, rectangular plate of shale. Near the pygidium of the trilobite is an example of Margaretia dorus, a fossil algae. This particular algae has also been found in the famous Burgess Shale deposits. This is a very displayable example of Asaphiscus that just happens to be associated with an uncommon plant fossil.
