This is an excellent specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale of New York. This trilobite is almost perfectly prone and beautifully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The trilobite has wonderful color and contrast and is well centered on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale. This is an exceptional example of a Calymene from the Silurian of New York.
