This is a classic US trilobite. It is an excellent Isotelus maximus from Ohio. This type of trilobite is one of the most recognizable and sought-after trilobites in the world, especially because it can grow to over a foot long. This specimen is well over a half a foot long - 6.7 inches to be exact. This type of trilobite also has the distinction of being crowned the "State Fossil of Ohio". This specimen is complete, outstretched, and beautifully preserved. The thick shell exoskeleton is intact and has great detail - even the LONG genal spines are present. The chocolate-brown coloration of the bug is striking and fully natural. The large trilobite contrasts nicely with the large, blue-grey matrix block. This is a very large, top-quality Isotelus maximus that simply displays beautifully.
