This is a gorgeous specimen of Phacops speculator from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite is quite large for the type and wonderfully articulated. It is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits incredible detail. The individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen, and the granulose surface of the exoskeleton is quite evident. The black trilobite contrasts superbly with the light-colored matrix. It is well centered on the sculpted plate of dense limestone. This is an absolutely beautiful specimen of Phacops speculator from Morocco.
