Here is an excellent specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is somewhat inflated and almost perfectly prone. It is beautifully articulated and exhibits great detail. The compound eyes stick up above the carapace of the trilobite and are easily seen. Even the individual lenses of the eyes are noticeable. The broad genal spines and the pointed caudal spine are clearly defined. The dark brownish-black trilobite contrasts beautifully with the gray matrix. The bug is well presented on the somewhat squared plate of shale. This is a very striking example of this trilobite from the Rochester Shale.
