Here is a large example of Modocia typicalis from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. Specimens of this trilobite that are larger than one inch are highly uncommon. This trilobite is almost two inches long! This thick-shelled bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. Both free cheeks are present and nicely attached. The flaring genal spines are perfectly preserved and the long pleural spines are beautifully displayed. The dark brown trilobite contrasts well with the tannish-pink matrix. The fossil is nicely presented on the stabilized, rectangular plate of shale that also contains an Agnostid trilobite. This is a very pretty example of this highly collectible Modocia.
