This is a fantastic spiny trilobite. It is a large Dicranurus monstrosus from Morocco. This type of trilobite is well-known for its unique, spider-like appearance. This specimen was painstakingly prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This specimen is complete and almost perfectly prone, which is very rare. The occipital spine ''Ram's Horns'' are fully free-standing, and the body spines are very long and flow beautifully. The trilobite was meticulously extracted from the center of a very large block of limestone - a killer bug showcased on a blanket of sculpted matrix. Occasionally, we offer a trilobite that is head and shoulders above the rest - this is one of those specimens. Seriously, if you ever wanted a fabulous Dicranurus for your collection, this is it.
