Here is a very interesting specimen. There are two juvenile examples of Bumastus ioxus on this plate from the Silurian of New York. Both trilobites are traversing the plate in the same direction which is quite appealing. It is extremely difficult to find juvenile specimens of Bumastus with the thin, brown exoskeleton intact. Both examples are quite 3-dimensional and have the ''skin'' present. The prone trilobites are wonderfully articulated and the free cheeks are tightly attached. The brown bugs contrast well with the gray matrix. They are nicely positioned on the large, somewhat rectangular plate of shale that also contains numerous bryozoans. This is a fine double specimen of Bumastus ioxus from the Rochester Shale.
