Here is a spectacular specimen of a very uncommon trilobite. This is a beautiful Olenellus fowleri from the Lower Cambrian of Nevada. This type of Olenellus is very wide with long, sweeping pleural spines and an opisthothorax comprised of many, many segments. This trilobite exhibits great detail. The crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen, and the gracefully flowing pleural spines are wonderfully displayed. Even the opisthothorax is clearly defined. And it is a split pair - both the part and counterpart (not pictured) are included. The bug has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this elusive trilobite from Nevada.
