Here is a very displayable trilobite. This is Calymenella sp. from the Ordovician of Morocco. This bug is quite large for the type (over 5 inches) and very 3-dimensionally preserved. It is nicely articulated and exhibits very good detail. The free cheeks are present which is somewhat unusual. This type of trilobite has a strange, rounded process extending from the front of the cephalon. This may have been used for digging in the soft mud of the ocean floor. This feature is beautifully displayed on this specimen. This trilobite has the chocolate-brown exoskeleton intact and is well centered on the concretionary matrix. This is an excellent specimen of this Ordovician trilobite.
