This is truly an artistically-prepared trilobite fossil. It is a natural double Hollardops (=Metacanthina) mesocristata from Morocco. This specimen has been expertly prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab. Both trilobites have exqusite detail and amazing preservation. They are both fully inflated and 3-D. The larger Hollardops is totally complete and beautifully articulated. The compound eyes facets are almost perfectly intact. And the entire front brim of the bug has been prepared free of matrix - it looks amazing! The second trilobite on the plate is wonderfully outstretched and also displays its excellent compound eyes. Both bugs are 100% NATURAL to the sculpted matrix plate - absolutely no compositing. This is simply one of those special fossils that has been professionally prepared to achieve its maximum potential. It is a stunning display fossil and an incredible piece of art.
