As everyone knows, complete Mississippian trilobites are very uncommon and highly collectable. This is an extremely nice specimen of Breviphillipsia sampsoni from the Mississippian of Missouri. This trilobite is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The bug is preserved in a 3-dimensional manner and exhibits excellent detail. The eyes of the trilobite are easily seen and the thick-shelled exoskeleton beautifully displays the small pustules which are a distinguishing characteristic of the species. The brown bug contrasts nicely with the gray matrix and it is very well centered on the squared plate. This is a very displayable Mississippian trilobite from the Chouteau Formation.
