Here is a very nice specimen of Cheirurus (Crotalocephalina) (=Crotalocephalus) gibbus from the Devonian of Morocco. This slightly contraflexed trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The bug has been meticulously prepared to reveal the fine detail of the carapace. The tiny eyes are easily seen and the short genal spines are clearly defined. The triangular pleural spines are all intact and the sharply-pointed pygidial spines are beautifully displayed. The trilobite has great brownish-black exoskeleton and contrasts extremely well with the lighter-colored matrix. It is nicely positioned on the rounded block of limestone. This is a very displayable example of this odd-looking trilobite.
