Here is a terrific example of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) plautini from the Ordovician of Russia. This unusual Asaphid is very wide with short, substantial eyes. The LARGE trilobite is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. It is preserved in a 3-dimensional manner and exhibits excellent detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The prominent eyes are beautifully displayed and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The butterscotch-colored exoskeleton of the bug is very thick and contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. It is well positioned on a large, natural plate of limestone. This is a very appealing specimen of this unusual species of Asaphid trilobite.
