Here is a "classic" trilobite. This is a wonderful specimen of Phacops rana rana from the Devonian of New York. This 3-dimensional trilobite is almost perfectly prone and nicely articulated. The detail of the trilobite is superb. The individual facets of the eyes and the pustulose glabella are quite evident. The black fossil contrasts beautifully with the gray matrix. It is wonderfully presented on the large, natural plate of shale that also contains an extremely inflated horn coral. This is a great example of Phacops from New York.
