Here is a very appealing trilobite specimen from the Ordovician of Russia. There are two different trilobites on this large plate. The trilobite on the left side of the plate is a wonderfully prone example of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus. This beautifully articulated trilobite has long, stalked eyes that are elevated high above the sleek carapace. The trilobite on the right side of the slab is an unusual Subasaphus platyurus. This trilobite has a wider carapace with large, unstalked eyes. The long genal spines characteristic of this bug are easily seen. Both trilobites are 3-dimensionally preserved and have great color and contrast. They are well positioned on the natural plate of limestone. This is a very displayable, double trilobite plate from Russia.
