This is a rare double specimen of Yunanocephalus sp. from the famous Chengjiang locality in China. This site is known worldwide for soft-body preservation of Lower Cambrian animals. The fauna is very similar to the Burgess Shale, but it is OLDER! Many one-of-a-kind organisms have been described exclusively from this formation.
These trilobites are extremely well preserved and exhibit fine detail. The individual thoracic segments are easily seen, and even the tiny pygidia are intact. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are well positioned on a large (2.1" X 2.8") plate of matrix. This is a unique double specimen of a highly collectible trilobite from one of the most famous invertebrate fossil localities in the world.
