Here is an unusual Canadian trilobite. This is a fine specimen of Isotelus latus from the Ordovician of Ontario. This species differs from the much more common Isotelus mafritzi by having a more rounded cephalon and pygidium. This specimen is quite inflated and exhibits very good detail. It is wonderfully articulated and possesses extremely thick exoskeleton. The black trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light gray matrix and is well centered on the rectangular block of limestone. This is a nice example of this difficult-to-find trilobite from Canada.
