This is an exciting plate of extremely rare trilobites. There are two Homotelus florencevillensis on this slab from the Ordovician of Iowa. This type is MUCH rarer than the Homotelus found in Oklahoma. There was one small pocket of these bugs found years ago, and it was quickly dug out. These trilobites are quite large and very inflated. They are both traveling in the same direction, which makes for an interesting presentation. The caramel-colored trilobites contrast beautifully with the light-colored matrix. They are well presented on the large block of sculpted limestone. They are completely natural to the plate - they are not composited. This is a very displayable specimen of this unusual species of Homotelus from Iowa.
