This is a very attractive trilobite. It is an Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. The bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The thick-stalked eyes are easily seen protruding above the sleek carapace of the arthropod. The caramel-colored fossil contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. It is nicely positioned on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very pretty example of an Asaphid trilobite at an extremely low price.
