This is a spectacular trilobite! It is a large Ceraurus sp. from the Ordovician of Russia. The wonderfully articulated bug is well preserved and nicely inflated. The curving genal spines have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are beautifully displayed. The extremely long pygidial spines are prominently showcased on this specimen. The fine detail of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is just great. The butterscotch coloration of this trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light, buff-colored matrix. The bug is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very displayable specimen of this extremely aesthetic trilobite.
