Here is a trilobite with an interesting story to tell. This is a large Elrathia kingi from the Wheeler Formation of Utah. The trilobite exhibits fine detail and is nicely articulated - both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. Now comes the story - the left side of the trilobite exhibits not one, but two clearly defined bite marks! The predator was probably an Anomalocaris, the T. rex of the Cambrian seas. Did these bites cause the trilobite to die? We will never know for sure. This is an excellent (and highly unusual) example of predation amongst organisms of the Cambrian sea.
