Here is an extremely interesting trilobite specimen from Europe. This is a nice double example of Placoparia tournemini from the Ordovician of Portugal. Multiple specimens of this trilobite are extremely unusual. The trilobites on this block are completely natural - no compositing has been done. Both trilobites are quite prone and nicely articulated. These complete bugs are inflated and preserve fine detail. The fossils are slightly compressed, laterally, due to the metamorphism of the strata in which they are found. Many times, the trilobites from these layers are terribly distorted - not so with these. The trilobites are wonderfully presented on the large, semi-rectangular block of matrix. This is a very attractive specimen of Placoparia from Portugal.
