This is a beautiful Russian trilobite. It is an Illaenus tauricornus from Russia. Most Illaenus have rounded genal angles, and do not have genal spines. This type has long, hook-like genal spines on each side. This specimen showcases these spines beautifully. The trilobite itself is complete and is extremely inflated and 3-dimensional. The natural caramel coloration is very striking, and the detail is excellent. The large eyes are also wonderfully showcased. The bug is aesthetically perched atop a large block of limestone matrix - natural, not composited. This is a very displayable specimen of this spiny Illaenus trilobite.
