This is a classic US trilobite. It is an excellent Eldredgeops milleri from Sylvania, Ohio. We were lucky enough to collect in the now-closed quarry in 1991, and this is one of the prizes we came away with. The trilobite is beautifully preserved and wonderfully articulated. The thick, chocolate-brown exoskeleton is practically flawless (the color differences near the tail are natural - NOT restoration). The compound eyes are perfect - and we mean perfect! And, best of all, the bug is naturally centered on a large plate of unsawed, unbroken limestone. This is a true collection piece - a Sylvania trilobite of this quality centered on a natural block of matrix this large is almost unheard of. It is a very displayable example of this famous trilobite from Ohio.
