Here is a very "clean", extra large specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus. This trilobite is from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. This type of trilobite has long eye stalks. They are not as long as A. kowalewskii, but much longer than A. cornutus. This trilobite is beautifully articulated and very prone on the matrix. It is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug is wonderfully preserved. The caramel-brown color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. It is well positioned on the natural plate of limestone that also includes another partial trilobite. And these trilobites are guaranteed to be natural - NOT COMPOSITED on the matrix. This is one of the most striking examples of this trilobite we have seen.
