Here is an extremely rare trilobite. This is Niobe sp. from the Lower Ordovician of Russia. This type of trilobite has a wide glabella with huge eyes. The crescent-shaped eyes are beautifully displayed on this specimen. This 3-dimensional bug is almost perfectly enrolled and is wonderfully articulated. The free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The beautifully calcified bug is "loose" and rests on the natural block of matrix. This is a great example of this unusual trilobite from Russia.
