This is a striking Russian Trilobite. It is a large Megistaspis laticaudata from the Kunda Layers of St. Petersburg, Russia. This type of trilobite is one of the most sought-after types found in Russia, because of its long, pointed body shape. This specimen is complete with both free cheeks intact (rare). The bug is nicely outstretched, which is also rare. The thick shell exoskeleton is beautifully colored and has very fine detail. Even the long, curled genal spines are complete and unrestored! This is one of the best display specimens of this type we have ever seen. It is an extremely collectible example of this bizarre Lower Ordovician trilobite from Russia.
