Here is an excellent specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) cornutus from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is extremely inflated and wonderfully articulated. It is almost perfectly prone and the thick-shelled exoskeleton is beautifully preserved. The stalked eyes are elevated high above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The rich caramel-brown color of the bug contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. This trilobite is very symmetrical and well centered on the natural plate of limestone. This is a very "clean" example of this short-stalk eyed trilobite from Russia.
